Letters From You.
Raccoons will eat cat and dog food. They also like treats of chocolate
and basic junk food (just a little:-). A lot of people complain about
feeding chocolate to raccoons so they suggest you don't.
Personally we haven't had a problem as long as it is only a
treat once in a while. You can regularly feed them cat and dog
food daily. Many also enjoy bread and crackers but don't seem to get
too excited over popcorn. they seem to like some fruits from time
to time but I don't know if too much fruit could hurt there digestion
so I would say moderate with the fruit.
If you know how to make money cake I'm sure they
would love it. It's basically grains or rice cooked with
apple sauce (with very little sugar) plus a few other add ins.
How to Behave around coons
People must be quiet with there first encounter with raccoons.
Some can be very aggressive. Others can be very shy.
Get to know your raccoons behavior from a safe place for you.
Stay in the house until the raccoon is used to being watched.
Soon you will know when it is O.K. to be outside with the coon.
Always use good judgment when looking at coons, make sure they are
not ill. We do not promote the ownership of raccoons so there are
no ownership tips here or tips on handling raccoons. We beleive that
wild raccoons should be kept that way to ensure they do not get
too used to humans because some people target the sweet raccoon.
I get many letters from people who want to know where to get raccoons.
I always tell them that I do not keep raccoons as pets and ours are wild
I was very lucky to be able to watch wild raccoons for a
few years. I learned from watching them that raccoons are beautiful
animals but that they can be aggressive. I have never owned raccoons
or raised any by hand. Many people love raccoons, weither they
own them or just enjoy them in the wild.
Happy Coon Watching
